Taking inspiration from the arts and nature, Walter Van Beirendonck's collections are characterized by bold colors, graphics, and unexpected ethnic influences, resulting in truly outstanding menswear. In particular, the designer's ongoing creations within the boundaries of the lowbrow--fanny packs, graphic tees, elastic underwear--evoke an easy-going approach to high fashion. Along with five other Belgian designers of his generation, Van Beirendonck is known as one among the "Antwerp Six."

In addition to his own line, Van Beirendonck designed the on-stage costumes for U2's 1997 "PopMart Tour." He was awarded the honorary title of Cultural Ambassador of Flanders in 1999.
