Small Trade Company was founded by San Francisco-based designer Matt Dick in 2011. Having worked as a design consultant to Apple Computer, Blue Bottle Coffee, and Levi’s, Dick has developed a particular appreciation for and specialization in denim goods.

The oversize tote bags available here are informed by the designer’s first-hand knowledge of traditional Japanese indigo dyes and dyeing techniques. Dick describes his practice as “a straightforward approach with a twist on the traditions.”
