Berlin-based designer Anushcka Hoevener is concerned with the conflicts inherent to clothing--as items that we wear for protection, and as items with the potential for aesthetic power. Twice a year, Hoevener develops a womenswear collection of limited quantity based on these values, which can be seen in her extrapolations of the very threads often taken for granted in garments. Small details like folds, pleats, padding and stitching are piled up or twisted, often showing up in unexpected places. Hoevener's designs are characterized by strong lines and wonderful hand-stitched details that lend them a personal touch.
