This backpack from Saskia Diez's "Papier" series measures 14.8 inches wide by 18 inches high (37.6 by 45.7 cm). With two straps resembling silver shoelaces, the bag lays flat when empty.
With training as both a goldsmith and in industrial design, Saskia Diez has used materials ranging from wood to precious stones for her imaginative designs. Her “Papier” series presents a series of durable, lightweight bags composed of an unexpected material: paper. Tyvek, a recyclable, water- and tear-proof paper, was used to manufacture the bags you see here. Saskia Diez was awarded Germany's Designpreis for the her "Papier" series in 2010.
