This bag from Saskia Diez's "Papier" series measures 20 inches in diameter by 16 inches high and seven inches deep (50.8 by 40.6 by 17.8 cm, not including handles). Its zipper begins near the bottom of one side, runs across the top and down the other side.
With training as both a goldsmith and in industrial design, Saskia Diez has used materials ranging from wood to precious stones for her imaginative designs. Her “Papier” series presents a series of durable, lightweight bags composed of an unexpected material: paper. Tyvek, a recyclable, water- and tear-proof paper, was used to manufacture the bags you see here. Saskia Diez was awarded Germany's Designpreis for the her "Papier" series in 2010.
